Master's Message
Hello Brethern,
August was a great month! As a lodge we fielded a team to compete in the Iron Chef Blue Lodge event sponsored by the San Jose Chapter #1 of the DeMolay. We took 4th place in the event. Over 125 people attended the event and over 100 stayed for the dinner! Watching 5 different lodges field 5 teams cooking in the kitchen was a sight to see!
In September we have our “Octo-Beer-Feast” potluck at Brother Robert Klute’s home. See the enclosed flyer for details and directions. The last “Octo-Beer-Feast” was a great event with the theme of German foods and fun!
In October we will have our recognition dinner for the 5 members of our lodge who have been Master Masons for 50 years. Please plan on attending as we have a dinner and recognize these Masons for this fantastic accomplishment! Our Inspector will be representing Grand Lodge at the event. The date is set for October 20th, so mark your calendars. A flyer will accompany the October Trestleboard with instructions on reservations and other information!
Elections for next years officers will be held in November. If you want to join the line and further your knowledge of Masonic ritual and teaching, please contact me and let me know. As the officers move forward in the line, we having openings to fill in several stations.
In October, two members of our lodge will be hosting the Monthly Masonic Smoker. This Smoker will have a side event that I know many of you will find interesting! We will be having a Scotch Tasting. Brothers Robert Klute and Scott Gillet will be hosting the event. So come learn about Scotch, how it is brewed and bottled, different types and regions and some tasting of different kinds! Details will be in the Smoker Mailing that is sent out from Worshipful Hank Vlcek. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Brother Klute or Gillete!
At this point in time we have successfully conferred four 3rd Degrees this year and have 4 more men progressing through the work on the lower degrees. The officers successfully passed our 3rd Degree Proficiency and all that remains is our 1st Degree Proficiency. Again, feel free to attend a practice to support the line in their work!
A thank you to as members of #399 for your contributions to the Masons for Mitts Program. As a lodge we purchased over 20 mitts for this great program for young men and young girls to learn to play this truly American sport!
Remember, the Annual Communication for California is being held in September. Any Master Mason can attend. If you have not been to a Communication or the Grand Lodge of California, come and attend!

Hello Ladies!
It was nice to see those who were able to make it to the stated meeting dinner in August. It was great having the San Jose DeMolay Chapter bar-be-que for us, and they did a great job of organizing and preparing the food, setting up, and cleaning up for us. It was a wonderful treat and we appreciate all of their work! We missed seeing several of you, but were glad to hear you were well enough to be traveling and enjoying your summer.
September and October will be busy months for our lodge, so I look forward to seeing you at the various events. We begin September with our stated meeting dinner on September 1st at 6:30 p.m. Golden Harvest catering will provide us with an Italian meal featuring chicken cacciatore, chicken parmesan, lasagna, and spaghetti with meatballs. It will be followed by the stated meeting for the brethren and Bunco for the ladies. So please plan to join us for an evening of fun.
On Sunday, September 19th, you are all invited to the home of Robert and Sandhya Klute for an “Octo-beer-fest” Potluck Barbeque. Everyone should plan to bring their favorite beer, lager, or ale, as well as a dish to share. Non-alcoholic beverages are welcome too. You are encouraged to bring your favorite German dish or one that uses “beer” in the recipe. So please plan to join us for an afternoon of fun and fellowship. Look for the enclosed flyer for additional details and directions to the Klute’s home.

This year we will be celebrating the 50 year anniversary of several brethren. We have a dinner and ceremony planned to honor them on Wednesday, October 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the lodge. Please watch for a flyer in next month’s Trestleboard for additional details and to make your reservations.
